Tooth extraction is a dental procedure where a tooth is removed from its socket in the jawbone.
We offer various types of sedation at our office. Sedation is most commonly used for multiple teeth extractions and wisdom tooth removal, however it is not necessary for these and can be used for many other dental procedures as well. Please talk to your dentist to decide if sedation is a good choice for you.
You will be instructed to bite on a gauze pad placed over the extraction site to help stop bleeding. Over-the-counter or prescription pain medications may be recommended to manage any discomfort. Avoid spitting, using straws, and smoking tobacco for 24-48 hours. As well, avoid strenuous activities for a few days and eat soft foods initially.
It is important to follow the post-operative instructions provided by your dentist to promote healing and reduce the risk of complications. If you have any concerns or experience unusual symptoms after the procedure, contact your dentist promptly for advice.
